The need for additional mobile coverage is becoming increasingly common during events and sports activities. Bouygues Telecom is now using Hyvision to power its mobile antennae on sites that are often isolated. This innovation reduces the environmental footprint by replacing thermal generators with generators powered by green hydrogen. The solution has been developed by Bouygues Energies & Services, in partnership with PowiDian, and presented to the Minister of Transport last March at the FNTP show.
It is a quiet, odourless, smoke-free power supply that reduces C0₂ emissions by 70%.
Bouygues Telecom is the first operator to use a green hydrogen power solution on some of its mobile network sites. This innovative solution significantly improves the environmental footprint of its operations, with a 70% reduction in C0₂ emissions and a 100-fold reduction in noise level (-20dB) compared to a thermal generator.
This sustainable innovation has been developed by Bouygues Energies & Services and the company PowiDian. It is being deployed by Bouygues Telecom as part of both one-off and permanent installations on the operator’s mobile network.
Hyvision also represents a practical solution for powering some permanent sites that are isolated and difficult to reach, pending their connection to the electricity grid.
Green hydrogen is the future
Bouygues Energies & Services presented Hyvision for the first time last March at the FNTP forum, attended by Jean-Baptiste Djebarri, Minister of Transport, and Olivier Dussopt, Minister Delegate for Public Accounts.
Bouygues Telecom also presented its BTruck5G mobile device, powered by Hyvision, to the president of ARCEP at the Innovations Days event, also hosted by the operator in March.
The Hyvision green hydrogen solution is also being deployed in Meyrargues, in the Bouches-du-Rhône département, to power a 4G mobile site. PowiDian is providing a hydrogen generator to replace the thermal generator. Other departments will soon be able to benefit from this solution.
A mobile power generation solution that supports the energy transition
“This green hydrogen power solution further illustrates our commitment to reconciling digital and environmental concerns for the regions and our intention to invest in useful innovations,” stresses Jean-Paul Arzel, Bouygues Telecom’s Executive Vice President, Technology, Network and Information Systems..
“It is part of our mobile network’s energy efficiency strategies and an ambitious investment plan in new generation equipment that is less carbon intensive and energy efficient”.
“This partnership with Bouygues Telecom and PowiDian is the result of a collective effort between players working towards the Energy Transition.” We are proud to be rolling out our “Hyvision” solution for mobile power generation from green hydrogen as a practical application in the field”says Caroline Mazzoleni, Deputy Director of Hydrogen and Smart Energies at Bouygues Energies &Services.
This innovative solution responds to the development needs of telecom networks and also helps to improve the quality of life in the regions by significantly reducing C0₂ emissions and noise pollution.
Bouygues Energies & Services is confirming its commitment to providing innovative solutions for the energy transition.
